Not paid for item

The people who respond in this forum are just other members like you - we can't access your account or mark the item as unpaid.

@tommystrezures provided a link to contact Ebay Customer services.

So, use the link to get a callback and explain the situation to Ebay.  They should be able to mark it as 'unpaid' so your buyer will be prompted to pay and will be able to complete the transaction.

The buyer can't pay now you have marked it as paid and you also can't reverse what you have done.

You need to get the buyer to agree to cancel and then relist it.

What you have done is quite common.

Up until about a year ago, you could marke the item as 'unpaid' if you made this error.

Now you can't - which is not helpful.

Your other option I believe is to get CS to change it, others have said this is the only route since ebay in their infinate wisdom removed something that was useful.

Link above will get you in touch with CS.

Not paid for item

Just an update, I have just had a telephone call from EBay CS who has assured me that even though I have marked the item as been paid for by accident, the buyer can still pay for the item.
I have emailed the buyer three times now with no success so the advice from CS is after 4 days to cancel the item and resell. Apparently the buyer will be unable to use EBay for 12 months.

This is what I have been told in response to my question by EBay CS

Thanks for all the help from the replies to my question

Sorry but I think all that advice is wrong, apart from cancelling.  You should not use the non payment option.

I don't believe the buyer can pay so penalising them with a non payment strike due to your error is extremely unfair.

I agree @papso22  that advice is all wrong. A buyer cannot still pay once the item is marked as paid.

One of The problem is that the item sits in the sellers hub as awaiting dispatch.

there used to be that the buyer could still mark it as unpaid it or cs reversed the "transaction" so that it appeared as not paid.

Personally it opens a can of worms as from buyers side it should show paid and now have an edd? Thus they could open an inr? No tracking would win the case and the money (which they haven't paid) AI is not clever enough to know this.

as for giving a buyer a non payment strike for something that isn't their fault is just plain wrong.

I really don't know what to do now as I have been reassured by CS that the buyer can still pay even though I have marked their item as paid for. I too am worried about the buyer being stopped by eBay if I do what I have been advised to do. I don't understand however why if they are unable to pay for the item they haven't responded to any of my emails.

Systems are all automated on eBay, little human contact,  as much of Customer Service answers seem to be too.

Your buyer cannot pay you,  as you have marked the item as paid.

The transaction has been closed with a ' payment' a second payment cannot be made,  the CS agent gave the wrong information, sorry it's unfortunate,  but we hear this a lot here.

I would guess that even if the seller waits the 4 days, then tries to cancel using 'buyer has not paid', that option won't appear, because it has been marked as paid!

What CS have suggested won't solve the problem at all.

I absolutely have no idea what to do about this? Even though it says paid for, can the buyer receive my emails I have been sending to try to explain the situation.

I have had no response by email from the buyer despite me emailing a few times?

Again thankyou for all the help
