No refund for postage costs I paid when buyer paid for them originally

Hi there

I recently sold an item and buyer paid £3.39 for the Royal Mail postage label. When it was time for to ship the item and generate the label, I had to pay for the label upfront out of my own pocket on the app. Fine, I expected the money back when the funds cleared. Today i have checked and this £3.39 has not been refunded to me. So both me and the buyer have ended up paying for the postage!

Can anyone advise on this please? This did not used to happen when you got the money from ebay immediately. Has anyone else had this problem? Also I notice that with Evri labels, when generating a label, I do not have to pay for the shipping, the label has already been paid for. Is this some glitch with Royal Mail labels?

the buyer pays you for the item and P&P and you pay for the postage label out of what you received.

Hi thanks for the reply but this is not what happened - I paid for the postage label using my paypal account  - as prompted by ebay at the time of generating the label. I can confirm £3.39 came out of my bank account for this. This amount has also been deducted from my funds - so i have paid for the postage and so has the buyer. Hope this clarifies what happened to me.

Update: I am wondering if I have found a reason for this as I just sold another item. When generating the postage label I did this on my laptop and not my phone and the option came to take the postage money out of my funds. So I did this instead of using paypal (which was still an option). Last time I used paypal and  assumed that if you paid through paypal this money would be refunded to me as the funds cleared? But it wasn't.

I am also wondering if it is to due with the fact that the item wasn't sent through 'Simple Delivery'? This wasn't an option when I did the listing.

Can anyone advise?! Thanks!
