New payment after delivery for Private Sellers

This is only going to end badly for Ebay, Private Sellers and Buyers. Did ebay actually consult any users? Small items postage using an untracked service will  now have to be sent Tracked 48. It's not cost effective anymore for small value items for either buyers or sellers. And we now rely on Royal Mail and Evri to scan the item on delivery. Get real Ebay this does not always happen. I do not see any benefit for the buyer as they are already protected with the current Buyers protection and are now being asked to pay a 4% fee plus 75p per item. And the seller has to fork out postage costs upfront,....why? When i order goods online from any retailer I have to pay upfront. Ebay would be better spending their time fixing all the errors with the current Ebay system instead of just ignoring my requests. Customer Services are a waste of time as they have little expertise and just fob callers off. And how about dealing with the multiple buyers who default on sales? A auction sale is a legal transaction so debit the buyer when the auction in won. Seems to me that all Ebay want to do is hold onto our funds and invest millions on the market. The only thing Ebay will achieve is to scare off buyers and sellers. I for one will start to run my stock down now. Well done guys!!!

Re: New payment after delivery for Private Sellers

Just a heads up, you are trading as a private seller when you should be trading on a business account anyway.

A private seller is one who is just selling off their own personal items such as clothes from their wardrobe, bits from their loft/garage etc.

A Business seller is someone who buys or makes items to sell on.  They need to be registered as a business to meet the requirements of UK law. eBay will be providing HMRC with your details anyway so it's vital to keep correct accounts. You can obviously offset more expenses as a business seller, but can't offset any at all as a private one.

To correctly register as a business seller simply go to your Personal Information in your account and to the right of Account Type, which will be showing as 'Individual'  you'll see an Edit option.

This doesn't affect your feedback profile or any current listings, it merely upgrades your account so that you're compliant with current consumer and eBay policy.
