New Changes on Delivery options & Buyer Protection

Just got the email telling me about the new changes, buyer protection and how Ebay are going to: "automatically select the appropriate postage options so you don’t have to waste time getting out the tape measure and scales, or worry about making a costly mistake. Your buyer will have the flexibility to choose either a standard or express delivery option at checkout. "

HOW is Ebay going to determine the correct size & weight of my item (from looking at the photographs?) and what if I am quite happy to keep using my local post office which is 0.8 miles away and not want them to select a locker which in my case is much further?  I certainly don't want to use Evri.  I can't understand why they are doing this, I've been quite capable up to now at selecting the right size and using Tracked48.

I'm still confused about the new buyer protection and in particular what happens if the parcel goes missing - if tracking shows as 'delivered' but buyer says it hasn't or opposite - tracking just stops after dispatch?  Surely this new system is just going to delay payment even further?

I've just seen this on the 'Simple Delivery' Page -

"If we're unable to determine the size and weight of your item accurately, you'll be asked to specify these details when you list it. This ensures you receive a suitable postage label when your item sells. You may also choose to update the size and weight if you believe our estimate is incorrect. Just make sure to report accurate measurements to avoid additional charges."

So that explains how they will know the postage price - isn't this an extra step when listing then?  Right now I don't remember having to input any specific measurements as I always choose 'small parcel' or 'large letter.  It also says you can opt out of 'Simple Delivery' when you create the listing - that's a relief I thought it was mandatory from how it was phrased in the email.

Is anyone going to use it because they think it will be easier?
