Negative feedback

I have recently sold a couple of items which have received negative feedback for not being as advertised. This was not intentional and never had negative feedback before.

both buyers though did not contact me before leaving feedback but just left negative feedback.

is there anything I can do as obviously I would have been happy to come to an arrangement either a return or partial refund of the item.

many thanks

One of them is too old to revise.    You can only request a revision for feedback that is less than 30 days old.

For the more recent one ask the buyer to open a return, if that's what they want to do.   Then you can send them a feedback revision request.   There's a link to do that on here:

This is the problem when using AI for a description it picks up some of the item specifics but adds its own flowery description which doesn't always exactly match the item in question.

Buyers do sometimes use the feedback system as a messaging board,  not sending a message to a seller first for them to try and resolve the issue.

All you can do for the latest neg, is to perhaps send an apology with a partial refund?  Once the buyer is appeased, they may, no guarantee,  agree for you to send them a feedback revision to complete.

Although you are registered as a private seller, your sales have all been for what appear to be customer returns of food processing equipment.

You have been honest enough to state this in some cases, including the most recent neg item, and in another case you admitted that some of the supplied capsules were now out of date.  However, four of your last 10 buyers have complained in feedback that their items were not new as described, or were not working properly.

I think you're trying to do the right thing, but doing it wrong. Can I offer two suggestions.

Firstly, you need to make sure that items you sell are accurately described, that any faults are declared and that items that have been used are described as used, not as new. Secondly, private sellers are restricted to selling their own, unwanted possessions. If you're buying or acquiring  customer returns items to resell, this is a business activity and you need to register as a business seller. You will also need to accept returns for any reason.

Personally, in addition to the good advice given, I think you also need to look at your current listings.

In my opinion I think the pictures you use should ONLY be of the item you are actually selling.

Catalogue pictures of brand new items give buyers unrealistic expectations.

If you are buying to sell, you are trading and need a business account.  Most people don't have 5 pre-owned vacuum cleaners to sell.
