So I sold a “ New Years “ card on Christmas Eve obviously with all the Royal Mail holidays it would encounter some delays nevertheless the expected date of arrival was up until January 3rd 2026 . Imagine my surprise to see some negative feedback from the buyer saying I didn’t provide a good service as his card wasent there on time ! His feedback was dated 2nd January as there was no post New Year’s Day im assuming that’s the day it arrived it was still within the estimated time frame set by eBay and the buyer obviously was aware of this when they ordered . I asked eBay to remove the feedback and thought they would no ! I’m shocked they said you haven’t proof of postage whatever has that got to do with it the buyer distinctly says he has the card in his hand on the 2nd January within allocated time frame it was a day early ! if he wanted it earlier he should have paid for first class ! I’m not impressed with eBay . My cards have such a small margin. I don’t track and I take the risk but when it’s clear the customer has the item and he’s just angry as he didn’t read the delivery date correctly or was willing to pay first class that’s totally unfair as he’s allowed to blame this on me when I Infact did all I was expected to do as a seller .

The feedback does not break any rules, so its doubtful that it will be removed.
". My cards have such a small margin" As a private seller that's not relevant.

Thank you for your reply I was just stating a fact why I didn’t post it tracked but others may wave to know why I’m aware it’s not relevant but the point I’m getting at is the customer who I’ve contacted has said quite openly he received it before the expected day i wouldn’t have a problem if it hadn’t but to criticise a seller when they’ve done everything they can to get it there when Infact it’s their fault that they choose to do it on the cheap and take a chance is pretty low belt as for eBay rules what’s the point of putting date timescales if they don’t actually have your back even if you do it right nothing changes with eBay your on your own support leans towards the buyer .

Ebay go by tracking, without it you can't prove delivery.
Buyer may have given feedback for wrong item.
Best to forget it and move on.

Hi Tobias I know sadly tracked is so expensive when its just a greeting card but yes defects are expensive but I have tried for many years with my other businesses on here to offer tracked but they always take the cheapest option . Anyway result my buyer retracted his feedback after a kind word or two
