My client brought an item. Tracking says it's arrived & has gone from her doorstep

As the seller it was suggested by eBay to use evri for p&p on a low cost item. The parcel was tracked and the customer was home.  There is a photo of the item on the doorstep. But  item had gone when they tried to retrieve it.

Who is responsible for the lost item and money spent

eBay will go by the tracking.   Ask the buyer to ask their neighbours in case someone took it in.

Was the item a simple delivery postal item in which case ebay need to deal with it. Buyer needs to open a case. Contract on postage is eBay and buyer.
