I was just about to purchase a tumble dryer sold by a well-known E Bay seller. After hours and hours of research, I asked the seller a question. The response was that the advertisement was incorrect and that the model they were selling was NOT the one advertised despite the advertised model being on sale on E Bay for weeks.
I am so angry about this that I am thinking of abandoning E Bay altogether.
What would have happened if I had purchased this item in good faith? Would I have been responsible for sending it back? Would the seller have been obligated to send the mistakenly advertised item?
What a complete waste of my time and effort.

If item that arrives does not match description, you open not as described case and return it for full refund.
Normally ebay issue returns label, but for tumble drier seller would need to arrange collection.
As you know it is wrong description, find a better seller or buy locally.

Suggest you read the money back guarantee.
While it would have been a waste of your time, if you bought it would be NOT AS DESCRIBED, and seller has to pay for return.
Why blame ebay, they do not examine every listing, or pop round to inspect what the seller has for sale. It is up to members to use the report link, and open return cases which will prove expensive for the seller. Too many cases and seller would have problems.

Thanks so much for taking the trouble to reply. Luckily I didn't order it so don't have to go through the nightmare of sending it back. However, I think there is a legal case for insisting that the item advertised must be the item they send to you. They should not be allowed to get away with just saying 'I made a mistake'. have had weeks to recitfy it. However, hey are blaming E Bay for 'wrong listing'.

No one can force seller to send correct item.
Ebay will just say, return for full refund.
