Lost item royal mail

The buyer wants a refund for the item but when I got paid I assumed it had arrived to them so I threw out the receipt. Royal mail also won't accept it as lost until 20 days after it was supposed to arrive which I've told the buyer I'm not sure what to do

Did you upload tracking (if applicable) against the item, and are you sure against the carriers website that the item has not been delivered?

 

The buyer needs to open an Item Not received case, you have to refund them in full and then you take up the issue with Royal Mail over the lost item, which wont now be helped by the fact you have thrown the receipt away. We typically keep our receipts for 6 months to avoid this issue.
