I entered a max bid of £30 but it sold for less and i lost it. How?

If it was a private seller you may have not factored in BPF so for example if a bid was £29.50 add the BPF its over £30.

Why don’t you look at the bid history, that will show your bid and the winning bid.

Your bid of £30 would have included about £2 of buyer protection fee, so your actual bid would be about £28.
