That's odd, and very unusual. Sellers often report that eBay has enforced refunds for overdue items within minutes of a case being escalated - but won't support them if the buyer then keeps both the refund and the item when it arrives. (As an afterthought, is this coming from abroad under eBay's global shipping? If so, eBay will have to refund you themselves if it isn't delivered, which may be why they're giving it extra time!)
In any case, when it does arrive it will by well after the latest estimated delivery date stated in the listing. You will be entitled to ask eBay to change the case to "item not as described" and return it under eBay's money back guarantee. The seller will have to pay the return postage.
