Item purchased from the US. But not collected by USPS.

Hello anyone. 

I have purchased an item from an American seller, I have a USPS tracking number but after a week of receiving said number it states that the item isn't in USPS posession and tracking is static. I don't really want to start messaging the seller unless necessary.  But I'm getting weary of sellers and postal services after a few horrible experiences. If anyone has some answers to potential problems I'd be grateful to hear them.

Potential problems with deliveries, particularly from abroad, are just one of the risks we have to accept when buying on eBay. Or indeed any online sellers (but especially eBay!).

If your item hasn't arrived by the latest estimated delivery date you can use eBay's money back guarantee. If allowing more time for delivery, remember that the time limit to open a case is 30 days.

I know all of this and appreciate your reply. I'll email the seller tomorrow if no movement on the tracking has appeared. That'll have been a full week since the tracking number was provided.

I know that USPS can be hit and miss but for the item not to be picked up or at least posted is sending alarm bells. There well may be a perfectly good reason but I've become weary and ultimately after this potential purchase I'm thinking of shutting down my eBay account. After nearly 15 years of trying to be the best buyer I can be some instances on eBay wear you down.
