Item delivered empty

I recently sold an item but the buyer reported that the parcel was empty on arrival and supplied photos. I have refunded the buyer in full but now I, as seller,  would like to get a refund for the delivery costs. I contacted Evri (the courier) and they have advised that I need to make a claim with Ebay but it is not clear how I can do this?

Sorry, I did not read from the start.

You can try contacting Ebay Customer Services.

Explain the parcel arrived empty and you have refunded the buyer but because you used Ebay Simple Delivery you can't claim from Evri.

Worst case - Ebay will say that's tough.

Best case - they will refund you the cost of the item.

It's worth a conversation.

The last two items you sold had Ebay Simple Delivery.

Did you post the item with the label supplied by Ebay?

If you did, then the buyer paid Ebay for the postage.

Did the buyer open a case through Ebay?  They should have started a return stating that items were missing.

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, I think you are correct that the seller
paid for postage not me. They have already opened a case and been refunded.
However I also feel I should get compensation for the lost items. If I had
posted them using Evri directly I believe they would have refunded the
value of lost parcel up to £20. Do Ebay do the same?

You will have been paid for the item you sold so you are not entitled to compensation.

If the buyer is refunded by Ebay you have not lost out as you will receive the price of the item from the buyer.

You should not have refunded the buyer, ebay should have done that under the seller protection given when using Simple Delivery.

I doubt there is anything you can do now.
