Item damaged during delivery/on arrival

Hi all,

I sold an item (an action figure) and was contacted by the buyer to say that their item had arrived broken and sent me a photo of the evidence. They understandably applied for a refund which eBay automatically processed and took the money out of my account. I feel like this is a bit unfair given the issue was with the delivery rather than myself. I have tried to search through eBay for help but they have only responded to say the case is closed and I am not able to appeal. The courier was Evri but I am not sure if they would be able to provide the compensation for the item given the sale was through eBay? Can anyone offer any advice on whether there is a way for me to appeal and get my money back? Would appreciate any advice.

Which figure was it?

If you used Simple Delivery you should not be liable to pay for the refund as long as the buyer makes it clear that the item was damaged in transit and doesn't simply state that it was 'not as described'.

Are you sure Ebay took the money from your account and didn't just refund the buyer themselves?

Normally, when a buyer opens a return for a damaged item, you are asked to provide a label and refund when the item is returned.

Item damaged during delivery/on arrival

Hi there, thanks for replying!

I have attached the screenshot of the message I got from eBay and also a screenshot of the order information which suggests I am receiving £0 instead of £5.

I have definitely had the money taken from my eBay funds as my total value is £5 less than before.

It states clearly that you won't be charged for this refund and that eBay has refunded the buyer in full.

Yes I know, but I can see clearly that the price of the item has been deducted from my total earnings… This is why I am confused!
If I click on the price breakdown for this item it does also state that I receive £0.
