Item damaged by Evri- i can't seem to get a refund!

I sold a vintage item this week, some of the items were fragile but i packaged it really well, the buyer said so himself, but evri somehow managed to smash the contents due to lousy handling.
So, i then get an email, via ebay from the buyer, with a photo of said damage, and asking me for a refund;
i thought, fair enough, so i initiated a refund. I then contacted ebay and said id like a refund since it was booked on ebay's postage system, but they said that i refunded the buyer before he made a proper claim for a refund. They then tried to wriggle out of it, blaming somebody called packlink. I wasn't aware of packlink being involved, to me it was an evri issue. I can't get any response from evri, packlink reckon it's nothing to do with them, and ebay keep directing me back to pack. 23 years on ebay, and im just fobbed off with excuses and ignored, and totally out of pocket, what do i do now??😫🆑

If you bought the label via packlink then for once ebay CS have given correct advice it is them that you need to claim against.

If the item was a simple delivery label generated by ebay then it is them that is responsible.

However depending on the item Packlink will wriggle as would Evri as they may say the item is not covered by their terms and conditions. If they don't then they may only pay £20 in compensation which is their standard.
