Item arrives after a refund was received

Tracking always said the item was received but nothing else was added. 16 days later a refund email was received following an eBay case ID. after a further 11 days the item was delivered but the tracking code was no longer accepted by the courier. Since then my seller has provided an email address (presumably for a PayPal account) but I paid by credit card. I also paid a buyer protection fee. I cannot find any eBay AI responses that cover how to repay a refund when this happens. I am rather puzzled by it as, surely, I cannot be the only one this has happened to as late deliveries and lost/ delayed parcels must be a common issue for so many carriers...Any ideas how my PayPal re-payment will get distributed correctly to cover seller's costs & the eBay buyer protection fee?

Yes,  it has happened to others, but once an eBay refund has been made that transaction is closed and no further refunds between the parties through eBay,  can be made.

You can repay the seller via their PayPal details,  or by cheque,  bank transfer or make a PayPal Friends and Family payment,  whichever suits your both best.
