International purchase

I have tried to purchase world war 2 aircraft models from the United States, but the sellers state that such items are forbidden to be despatched to the UK on the grounds they are "war toys".

I contacted UPS, who shipped such a model from another seller in the United States, who state that in their view, no such prohibition exists.

Without even seeing what you bare trying to buy it is difficult to comment, but my first thought is the category used by seller which could cause this silly problem.

Rules on what can be sold in the USA are rather different to the UK and replica firearms  for example would be banned, so as said above picking a category which is acceptable in the US could well prevent the sale of model aircraft.

Thank you for your reply. What I was trying to purchase was simply 1/48 scale models of a Hawker Hurricane aircraft. Hardly a matter of national security. Neither of the two sellers appear able to ship items of this sort to the UK.
