International postage.

Does a seller have to contact Ebay to 'register' to sell internationally?

I have a 'buy-it-now' item that someone in Brazil wants but they are saying there is no postage option for them. In listing the item I have checked the 'International Postage'  option and checked a Royal Mail delivery option and also inserted the cost of postage in the relevant box but the prospective buyer insists there is no postage option/cost on the listing she is seeing in Brazil. Is placing a 'cost of postage' in the relevant box creating a problem with the Royal Mail option I have selected?

Tried changing the listing to Ebay's Global Delivery System option but that pitched the postage at a ridiculously high level - more than twice as much as the Royal Mail option I selected originally.

Very frustrating and at a loss to know what to do.

Re: International postage.

To sell internationally you need to show this in your Site Preferences on your homepage here:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/ship/prf

On the left sidebar select Postage Preferences, scroll down to Exclude Postage locations and select the countries there you do and do not wish to post to. There is a little box at the bottom of that list to add this to any item listed , with no bids.

Be aware, if you are a new seller, or one returning after a long break, you may not be able to sell internationally straight away.

Re: International postage.

While you post to counties that most sellers would avoid, there is no postage quoted on the item I looked at for posting for example to the USA. You do at some time need to edit where you post to.

Without postage buyers cannot pay and it seems now cannot even bid.

Your items are also increased in price by the new buyer fees, which confuse buyers.

As you are selling all new,  these buyer fees are not added to items listed by properly registered business accounts.

Re: International postage.

Thanks for the reply. As you might have guessed posting internationally is new to me.
In the postage section I clicked the 'Worldwide' option and thought that was sufficient.
Is there a menu where I can check Brazil as a destination - if so, I haven't seen it. Any guidance on how to navigate there would be greatly appreciated.

Re: International postage.

Hi
Thanks for the reply, although I'm not too sure whether I am any the wiser!
I checked the page link and all my postage settings are enabled for delivery to the UK and Worldwide....in other words none of the boxes are checked to exclude them from delivery.
Am I being a bit thick because everything points to International delivery being enabled but the problem persists?

To add a little context....the item I am selling is an Auction and the buyer/bidder is indicating the postage rates are shown. However, she would rather I list it as a 'Buy-it-now' to expedite matters. I re-listed the item as a 'buy-it-now' and (as described in my original post) checked the postage option for Worldwide, selected a Royal Mail service and added £25 to the cost of postage box. However, the prospective buyer is telling me there are no postage options at her end in Brazil.

I have checked the item my end via the 'edit listing' option and everything appears to be in place for Worldwide delivery, but maybe I am missing something obvious?

Although not a prolific seller I have been reasonably active recently with items sent to UK addresses so wouldn't imagine there is a block on International sales. It all seems a little too complicated for what should be a simple action.

Thanks again for your reply.
