International Selling

Good morning

Made an  offer for an item from the USA, which was accepted, I then  collated all the costs involved with the international P&P .   Then received notification that the price had increased as VAT had to be added increasing the cost.   As there was no mention of this in the original listing and I still want the item, what are my options.

Secondly, is this correct and thirdly, if I had  known I would have bid accordingly, taking that into account.

Thank you in advance and await your responses.

Items bought from the USA are subject to VAT and customs duty.

If you look again at the listing, it will say somewhere that this is the case.  It isn't always obvious.

So, you can pay what is being charged and receive the item or don't pay and ask the seller to cancel.

To add.

If you paid for item, then refuse to pay VAT/import fees, you invalidate ebay MBG,

so will lose item & money.

VAT is added by ebay who are obliged to collect for our HMRC.

Although it will be on the listing somewhere, buyers IMPORTING from outside the UK should be aware that there are taxes to pay, and as already said failure to pay any VAT or Import duty invalidates the Money Back Guarantee.

you can ask the seller to cancel, but if they look at your profile they might cancel and give you an unpaid strike.
