I suspect seller not paid enough postage

I received a Royal Mail card saying not enough postage paid on something coming to me. I have gone through everything I have ordered, everywhere, and it seems to be an ebay purchase. The amount RM require, £7, is a bit more than I paid for for item and postage.

Do I send RM the money - then I'll get the item and know for sure who has not put the right postage, but how would I get my £7 back if ut is the ebay item?

Or do I not pay it, after 18 days it is returned to sender, then claim non-delivery (if the said ebay item doesn't arrive...if it does I'll then be scratching my head to work out what it is!!)?

Anyone had any experience of this?

If you pay the fee, ebay won't make seller refund you.

You could not pay and open item not received case.

The choice is yours.

Thank you for your reply. I thought there might not be any way to get the £7 back.

I'm thinking that as I have 18 calendar days, I could wait a bit and see if the item arrives.

I have contacted the seller, to say I think it might be their item, perhaps they will send me their proof of posting...

And if the item does arrive (it is now later than estimated) the mystery will deepen!

A seven pound fee is for either no postage applied to parcel or counterfeit stamps used.

A lot of PO's accept RM & Evri parcels,

Evri item may have been put in wrong bag, others have report this happening.

If so, RM won't have been paid, hence the fee.

UPDATE: The seller is being very helpful. Yes the drop off for the Evri package was a post office. The tracking shows it stuck at received (at drop off point). So it could have gone into the wrong sack.
I will not pay RM for the mystery package, which means after the 30th April it will be returned to sender, then we will know if it is my purchase or some friend who has forgotten to put any postage on something they are sending me!

eBay Private sellers have been hit with a new system,   called Simple Delivery.

There seem to be more than a few shall we say, ' teething problems!' 🙄

Members are reporting not being able to enter or select the correct weight / size for certain items and the wrong postage label is being issued.   This postage Has to be purchased through eBay now.

This may have happened in your case ?

You have 30 days from estimated delivery date to open item not received case, escalate on day 4.

Do not let seller stop you doing this.

The problem is not Simple Delivery, the problem might possibly be that an Evri package has ended up in a Royal Mail bag.

Yes I have dates noted. In theory there is time for the package to make it back to sender and still be in the 30 days

Yep,  could be the case.  My little PO has only just started to accept Evri parcels, the RM  bags are next to the Evri bags,  it's a new service being used .  Yes,  I can see a mistake being made,   placing an item into the wrong bag.

There have been others - not just on this thread mention the possibility.

It is currently the best working theory with my mysterious no postage paid card from RM and the item being stuck in dropped off mode with Evri tracking.
