You can't on ebay.   Try your payment provider, eg. Paypal history.

If funding was via your bank either to PayPal etc old bank statements will have the transaction.

The PayPal / bank statement won't show what I purchased but I hope I can ask eBay for the details

I very much doubt eBay will be able to assist if I am honest. But bank statement if cross reference with other paperwork you kept for the purchase 8 years ago should be suffice.

Ebay purchase history only goes back 7 years on ebay so ebay customers service won't be able to help you.

Bank statements are no good as I need proof of purchase. 

PayPal are sending me data and eBay gave said they will too but I'm not hopeful for eBay

Keep in mind that eBay, PayPal or you bank or credit card issuer don't provide long term records of your purchases.

If something is expensive enough to require insurance, it's best to print hard copies of receipts while you have them and keep them in a box somewhere.
