I Paid £144 for Toys and Received a Plastic Keyring – eBay Closed My Case Unfairly

Hi everyone,

I’m sharing this here because eBay closed my case, and the support agent just told me to “he can not help me” So here’s what happened — I hope someone can help or guide me further.

Back in March, I ordered a 3-piece S.H.Figuarts Squid Game figure set for my son and paid £144. I asked the seller to put the parcel under my son’s name, since it was a gift for him.

After I placed the order, the seller gave me a Chinese tracking number that was vague and unhelpful. I kept asking for a UK tracking number, but he kept replying with “it’s delivered” and nothing else.

Eventually, after many trips to the post office and hours of chasing, I found out the parcel had been delivered — but not to my house. It was delivered to a bar near my home, and the label had my son’s name, but not my address.

When I went to collect it, I was shocked — it was just a tiny 5-gram plastic keyring. The item I ordered should’ve been a proper box with 3 figures, probably around 200 grams or more.

What’s worse is that the seller admitted in chat that he made a mistake, but never refunded me or sent the correct item. He just stopped replying. I believe he intentionally sent a fake item to the wrong address under my son’s name, so it would show as “delivered” and he could keep the money — knowing that eBay might side with him based on tracking status alone.

I opened a case, expecting buyer protection, but eBay closed it, saying it was delivered. Yes — something was delivered, but it was the wrong item to the wrong address, and the seller completely avoided responsibility.

I’ve provided screenshots, messages, proof of the incorrect parcel, and the seller’s admission. Still no refund.

Has anyone else experienced something like this?
What can I do now?
I feel completely let down by eBay on this, and I truly hope there’s still a way to make this right.

Thank you for reading.

If this happened in March, then I think you are too late to do anything.

The case for 'item not received' was correctly closed because the tracking proved delivery.

As soon as you realised the item was incorrect, you should have opened a return case stating the item was not as described.

As you had evidence (a message from the seller) that the wrong item had been sent, you should have won that case.

Did you fund that payment with a debit or credit card and , if so, was your payment less than 120 days ago?

You ask if anyone else has experienced this.  Every buyer who opens a not received case when something has been delivered will lose it.  When you receive something, anything, you have to open an item not as described case.

Ebay does allow a not as described case to be opened after you lose an item not received one, but it still needs to be opened within 30 days of receipt.  After that they will not help.

You could try your funding source for help.
