How to remove vat from purchase for non applicable item

Uk customs requires vat to be paid on purchases over £135, however  the item I want to buy is $99/£79 but is showing a vat payment added to the bill, how can I remove this before buying?

Customs Duty is payable on items over £135.

Below that amount you'll pay import VAT at 20%.

You can't remove it, it is being charged correctly.

The £135 is a duty limit, there is no lower VAT limit.
