How do i get help when a seller is playing games?

I have bought and paid for an item, consisting of 8 units

Seller messages me, oh dear I don’t have exactly that anymore

Can I send you this instead - photo

No that doesn’t suit

More photos sent

Ok I don’t mind accepting x

Seller sends another photo - this is what I’m sending

This is not what I specified

Yes it is what you said

No this is not correct - please reread message at time y where I clearly state my preference, which is not as per your photo

But I don’t have that

You’ve sent me a photo above showing me that exact item ………….. etc etc

Is the only option here to cancel the order?

And then leave negative feedback? (which is frowned upon and can lead to retaliative negative feedback by seller)

Or can you report seller to eBay in any way to look at behaviour?

Ask to cancel, if they won't do that, raise a  claim for item not received after the expected delivery date.

Leave short polite negative feedback. This is the public way to report them.

Sellers can't leave buyers anything but positive feedback comments on a green dot.  If they try to be clever with the comments you can  report them and get it removed.
