Hi, i am a seller on ebay - since allowing the customer to choose simple delivery , my messages to t

Hi, I am a private seller on ebay , since ebay introduced " simple delivery " it seems that when I message the buyer for more info to fulfill thier order - my messages are not going through to the buyer ??? I am unable to continue with an order if the correct info is not put in the " message box " - I preference to have direct messaging between me the seller and my buyer , you know " the personal touch " !!! I sell sensitive memorial ribbons and as this is a difficult time for the buyer - I prefere the order to be " just right " , so why are messages not reaching my buyer ??

Thanks for any answers .

Private sellers do not make and sell personalised items.

You need to upgrade to a business account and you won't have to use Simple Delivery.

You shouldn't need to contact a buyer, but you do need to list these items on a business account, then you can add variations on one listings and personalisation.

A private seller is one who is just selling off their own personal items such clothes from their wardrobe, bits from their loft/garage etc.

A Business seller is someone who buys or makes items to sell on.  They need to be registered as a business to meet the requirements of UK law. eBay will be providing HMRC with your details anyway , and you can obviously offset more expenses as a business seller, but can't offset any at all as a private one.

To correctly register as a business seller simply go to your Personal Information in your account and to the right of Account Type, which will be showing as 'Individual'  you'll see an Edit option.

This doesn't affect your feedback profile or any current listings, it merely upgrades your account so that you're compliant with current consumer and eBay policy.

If you're also selling your own items, just open another eBay account (you can have more than one).

Thank you for that info , but I cannot find that option on my ebay account.
I would not call my passion for making ribbons , a " buisness" as I do not
make profit and my turnover is not on the same level as a buisness. Ebay
already has my national insurance number but has never asked me if I would
like to switch from private to buisness ? . I have had 30 sales in 7 months
- does that mean I'm a buisness ? .

The number of items you sell is irrelevant.  Once you monetise your hobby, you are trading and need a business account.

Do I need a business account?

If you plan to sell casually, such as selling items you no longer want, a private account is the best option.

If you want to sell large quantities, if you have items that you've made or bought to resell or if you already have a business outside of eBay, you’ll need to register a business account.
