There seems to be nowhere to ask this question on ebay. I have been signed into my account. Had an item on my watchlist. I got an email to say bidding will soon end.
Can I please ask if I'm doing something wrong. Today I bid for
Item: GW Instek GDS-820S 150MHz Digital Oscilloscope Dual Channel
Seller: m0dxr_1983
Ref: (276823645811)
I put in a bid of £162.67 approximately 8 seconds before the bidding ended. It seemed to go through, but it was actually sold to the previous bidder @ £102.
And absolutely no further feedback via email.
I have purchased from ebay before (not auction bid though). My account is set up with my PayPal account

Always risky bidding In last seconds.
Try putting max bid in earlier.

OK, thanks folks for your help. Since I'm a 'newbie' regarding the auction part of the site, and the previous items that I had purchased were quite low in value, I was wondering whether I had to go through some sort of initial 'trustworthy' stage.
Basically, forget all the YouTube videos telling me to bid in the last few seconds. The best way I reckon:
Work out the maximum price I am willing to pay
Put that bid in earlier (maybe 5 minutes before) as my 'maximum bid' and let ebay use its automatic bidding system which will incrementally increase my bid up to my maximum, keeping me as the highest bidder without unnecessarily raising the price . That max bid is hidden to others anyway.
If another bidder goes higher than that, so be it. I've set that as my max bid.
If other bidders don't match my max bid, I will get it at the last bid plus the ebay set increment.
Sit back and enjoy a beer 🙂
Sounds good

Sounds like a plan!

How did you get the bidding history of that sold item? I can get a list of sold items which shows that particular item, but if I click on a link of it (ie. either the image or the title), it just defaults to similar active items. It will not let me get the history of the actual sale of that item.
Thanks

Sorry for troubling you, I've cracked it 🙂
