HOW SHOULD I PROCEED WITH THIS RETURN REQUEST

Hello all!

Recently sold an iPhone to a buyer and now they are requesting to return it under "change my mind"

Private listing of course with a no refunds policy.

Item was well documented and detailed pictures shown of the manufacture date and first usage date on the about section of the phone within the settings menu.

They are stating that it is not a suitable gift and that the device is 5 months old although this is shown also within my pictures on the listing.

Did they think the device was new? My listing stated the item was "used"

Any idea how this would play out if I was to decline the return?

Thanks

Ebay would accept your refusal and the case would be closed.

However, a determined buyer might then go to their bank/credit card company and start a chargeback by stating the phone was 'not as described'.

Really, you are caught between a rock and a hard place.  At least if you accept a change of mind return, the buyer will have to pay for a tracked return.  If it did come to a chargeback, you might not even get the phone back.

Edit

You state in the description it is 3 months old - so they would win a case for a chargeback if the phone is actually older than that.

As a private seller you are perfectly entitled to refuse a "change of mind" return.   Tell them they would have to pay the return postage and suggest they resell it themselves instead.
