Giving a buyer my address for him to collect item and pay at point of collection

Could anybody tell me please why ebay have changed things please.

I have sold quite a few items that have been collected from my address over the years and the buyer paid when they picked the item up, but for some reason i just made a sale and ebay wont allow me to give the buyer my address unless the y pay first, as this appears to be a new rule from ebay does that mean that buyers cannot pay on pick up anymore but have to pay first then pick up when ebay allows my address through.

That is correct,  the rules for collection have changed recently.

That is,  there is no cash on collection allowed,  a buyer after purchase has to pay through eBay checkout,  by card payments,  Google / Apple Pay or PayPal.  If you look at your listing there is no option for cash.

No contact details can be exchanged Before payment.

Ebay stopped cash on collection payments a while ago. Items have to be paid for through ebay checkout now, excluding the car and vehicles category.

Once the buyer has paid you can exchange contact details. Ebay will send your buyer a code to show you to prove they have collected.

If your buyer decides he does not want the item after they have inspected it, you can do a mutual cancellation which will refund them.

Correct. When payment in cash on collection was allowed some sellers took this as a chance to sell the item to the buyer privately. They then invented a reason to cancel the eBay sale, evading payment of eBy's fees.

Unsurprisingly, contact details now can't be provided until the item has been bought and paid for through eBay's checkout. (This doesn't apply to business sellers, who are required by law to state their trading address, or to the the sale of motor vehicles.)
