Last Monday, I purchased a Jellycat plush advertised as a Barnabus Pig. The day after I ordered it, I received an email update from Ebay saying they had closed the sellers account down and to contact them if the item didn't arrive, as it was showing as order had processed prior to being closed. The item was posted and in transit. It arrived today and it's a fake item and had tags for another Jellycat pig plush altogether. Would I still need to try to contact the seller for return and refund even though the sellers account is no longer there, and then escalate or would it be best to request contact from ebay themselves to arrange a refund? I have no information for the seller to arrange return

No, you cannot contact the seller as they have been removed from eBay, so you need to contact eBay Customer Services and explain the item you received is a fake.
Contact them vey first thing tomorrow morning when the lines first open at 8 a.m. as there's more chance of Dublin answering.
This is the easiest and quickest way to contact eBay Customer Services, for a Call Back option.

Thank you, I did think this would be the case but wasn't 100% sure as it's the first time I have purchased a fake item and had the seller shut down. I appreciate the advice 😀
