Free postage

Beware all sellers. Free 2nd class delivery now has to be despatched either on Monday to get there for Friday - some weeks it will not be delivered till the following week if you despatch it on Tuesday. This is all because Royal Mail will only make alternate weekday 2nd class deliveries now. If you are showing 2-3 days deivery and it takes between 4 and 8 days it doesn't look good for the seller.

Most sellers will be aware of the changes to Royal Mail services.  However, the changes only apply to standard second class letters.

Tracked 24 and Tracked 28 services will not be affected and neither will First Class Services or parcel deliveries.

Hi

Thanks for your reply

I am not familiar with ebay member to member and it did seem the only way
to post my comments.

I do know it only effects standard 2nd class letter, but I have already
had at least two small items delivered late because of the change.

It would be so easy for me to blame the seller and give them negative
feedback.

EBay need to be aware of the facts.

Ebay are aware and they have issued information and advice to sellers:

Royal Mail 2nd-Class Letter – what’s changing and what isn’t

One of the things they say is that sellers should make sure they have the postage on their listings as 'second class letter' and not just generic 'second class'.

I obviously don't know what the sellers had on their listings in your case, but if sellers aren't doing this then Ebay's algorithms won't know they are using a service that now takes longer.
