Faulty iPad Cover

Recently bought an iPad cover and just after the 30 day return period the two upper plastic clips started to disintegrate.

After sending the seller numerous photos of the problem the seller is more or less ignoring me.

Trying to get help from Ebay has proven absolutely useless, I'm just going round in circles.

Does anyone know how or where to go to get this sorted. The sellers page even states the cover has a 1 year warranty but there is no way to get the seller to respond.

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Faulty iPad Cover

You cannot report this to eBay as they do not offer warranties or guarantees on items, just that they are just as described on receipt.  If they are not,  a buyer has 30 days under eBay's 30 day MBG,  Money Back Guarantee policy,  to return the item for a full refund.

If you bought this from a Private seller you are too late to claim a refund.  You can turn to your payment provider for help with a refund now.

I  don't think the item was of a high value, so it might not be worth pursuing, if  purchased from a registered UK business, who offered a guarantee and is now not upholding this,  then turn to Citizens Advice for your next steps,  if you wish to take this further.

Re: Faulty iPad Cover

So basically if you get scammed on Ebay which is what it feels like has happened they can get away with it with impunity because Ebay allows it by not giving the buyer any support. This isn't really about the money now but the lack of involvement from Ebay to take action against the seller and in so doing possibly allowing some one else to get scammed.

I doubt I'll be buying much if anything again on Ebay

If it was UK business seller, contact citizens advice for help.

Re: Faulty iPad Cover

Ebay host these sellers therefore they should take some responsibility, you used to be able to make a complaint against a seller but as in most business now days they are more less untouchable.

But as I said it's not so much about the money but wanting to stop others getting scammed by the seller, it would seem by their unwillingness to help that Ebay actually condone the sellers actions and lack of response.

Re: Faulty iPad Cover

Ebay have never got involved with warranties beyond their own 30 day MBG.

If UK business seller, you still have consumer rights, but that is between you & seller.

You use eBay therefore you should have read the user agreement.

eBay provides their own money back guarantee, which only lasts for 30 days from delivery. After that, they have no further interest.

You accepted this in the user agreement. Also that eBay specifically warns buyers in the user agreement that "they do not guarantee the existence, quality, safety or legality of items advertised, or the truth or accuracy of descriptions".

Any warranty your seller offered is up to the seller, but sadly we know from the number of questions asked about this that sellers' warranties are often worthless. You may still have some statutory consumer rights if the seller is a UK business seller. If you paid by credit or debit card, your card issuer may be able to help. Citizens Advice would be able to explain the rights you may have.

Good luck anyway!
