Falsely charged

On 06 August 2024 my card was charged £74.38.

But this is not a transaction I recognise and it doesn't appear on my purchases tab.

How do I contact eBay to challenge this error?

Keep in mind that an error by eBay is not the only possible explanation.

Only sellers have to register a card from which eBay can take payments.

As a buyer, eBay can't "charge" payments to your card. Either you initiated this card payment yourself, or your account was used without your authority. It could have been used to pay for a purchase on another eBay account.

If your card was used without your authority, unless it was someone in your household you will need to contact your card issuer about this.

Had you purchased an item as a guest using that card?

In fairness you are 200 days past the transaction, so I am not sure how your credit card company will react either.
