Fake and incorrectly labelled

I recently reported items that were listed as being Original items that I know to be 100 percent fake. I reported these, its decided my report did not go against, ebay rules. They were declared fine by community member and left.

What do other people feel about obvious fakes? It is up to unsuspecting buyers to be scammed or should we not help by improving standards ?

Ebay never see seller's items, so can't know if fake or not.

All buyers are covered by eBay 30 day MBG.

eBay does not accept reports of counterfeits from ordinary users, only from the registered owner of the brand name. I imagine this is why users who report them keep getting a "no violation" response, because it's not treated as a valid report.

Instead, eBay suggests reporting counterfeits to the brand owner, as below:

Intellectual property rights owners

Only intellectual property rights owners can report eBay listings that infringe on their copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights. Sellers who are rights owners can learn more about the VeRO program and file a report from the Reporting intellectual property infringements (VeRO) - opens in new window or tab page.

Not the rights owner

Members who are not the rights owner can still help by getting in touch with the owner and encouraging them to contact us. Some rights owners who participate in the VeRO Program have created a participant page, so eBay members can find out more about their products and legal positions. Though not all VeRO participants have a page, those that do can be found at our VeRO participant pages - opens in new window or tab.

I really appreciate your response, you clearly understand the rules very well. It is very frustrating and sad for all those unsuspecting buyers. I  think there should be more help to protect them.  I gather having anyone able to report freely could be misused and jeopardise sellers platforms.

Perhaps it is impossible but would be great if categories were monitored by people who could influence and monitor quality control.

Again thank you

Ebay does now have authentication service for trainers and jewellery.

Seller posts item to authenticator after buyer pays, if it passes, they post to buyer.
