Fake Tracking Updates — A Risk Not Worth Taking

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share an important reminder, especially for new or growing sellers.

Some sellers (a small number) update fake or placeholder tracking numbers just to make it look like the item was shipped on time. While this might seem like a smart trick, it can actually cause serious problems.

🛑 eBay can detect invalid or non-working tracking numbers.
Buyers may also report issues if they don’t see valid updates.
📉 This can lead to account warnings, buyer claims, or seller performance issues.

💡 My advice:
Always upload genuine tracking.
If there's a delay, message the buyer honestly.
Build trust — it’s the key to long-term success on eBay.

Let’s work together to keep our community strong, honest, and helpful. 💪
