Expensive

Am I missing something, or with the new Buyer Protection has it become much too expensive to work on Ebay? I know it is the buyer who is picking up the new charge but it seems almost pointless listing the odd t-shirt for 99p as by the time you add postage and the new Buyer Protection, the price is so much higher....think I will be looking elsewhere to sell.......

The BPF does hit low value sales particularly hard.

Re: Expensive

When sellers paid a final value fee of 13% + 30p to eBay it wasn't really worth listing items that were only going to sell for the giddy sum of 99p in the first place (bear in mind that the fee was also charged on the postage price too.

Now that sellers fees have been removed for private sellers, the fee has been moved to the buyer, so nothing much has changed on that front.

I do agree that low value items will be hit hard by this, and the only workaround I can think of is to group similar items in lots.

Re: Expensive

Not only that, ebay still encourages starting at 99p with free postage., and some sellers even do this and wonder why they are losing money.

As suggested grouping things together is one way round, but then will people buy things they do not want just to get one item, but basically what might sell at 99p will not sell at about £1.73. Just ebay wanting to get rid of small sellers.

Re: Expensive

Totally agree and it is a shame as it is good to get a little bit back on clothes that are still good but are no longer liked or no longer fit, especially on children's clothes. I wonder if ebay will do a turnaround on this new idea....?
