Evri states item is delivered and it was not delivered

I bought an item that was scheduled for delivery by Evri. It was out for delivery on Monday 30 June 2025 with an estimated drop time of 17:00 - 19:00. On Tuesday morning I saw that the item had been delivered at 23:14 on Monday and it was marked as delivered on ebay.  I checked outside and found nothing I tracked the item on the Evri site and there was no photo or GPS data just a delivery time.  I contacted Evri via the Telephone message system and got an email today Wednesday saying they were looking into it and for me to check in the garden etc.  Just after I read this email the parcel was delivered at 10:45.  The Evri system is flawed as they have now delivered the item twice and ebay show it as delivered 2 days before it actually was.

My heart drops when I learn the seller is using Evri as this is  not the first time this sort of thing has happened that night there must have been a lot of similar occurrences as the next day the local Facebook group was full of people posting about this. This is making me cautious about using ebay. 

My worry is what happens if the item doesn't turn up? What come back do I have? Will ebay believe me when Evri state it is delivered?

As a long time ebay user Evri are making me cautious about using ebay.  I may start asking sellers who they use before purchasing. 

Ebay needs to step in and not allow Evri to state it has been delivered when there is no proof of delivery to the actual purchaser (not some random photo of a parcel on the footpath near a door).   The buyers protection fee they are now charging should be used to cover a guaranteed refund where the purchaser isn't handed the item.  Evri state they will attempt delivery 3 times before returning the item why is this not happening?

It's an upsetting example,  and you were lucky to have received the item in the end.  eBay I'm afraid have no say in how Evri operate.

 

I cannot fault our Evri lady,  always on time,  always polite and would always leave an item in a safe place if we're not home.  I get more updates and messages from her,  than from my children !!

 

I realise Evri cannot clone this lovely lady,  and they do have some not so perfect delivery couriers.  If you find this is the case,  always check the postal service the seller has selected , many do deselect Evri, even send a message to  the seller to confirm Evri is not used, as you have an unreliable Evri dispatcher.
