Customs charge payment

I ordered an item which was dispatched from Italy.

I have just discovered it has arrived in UK but there is an additional customs payment required.

I've contacted Poste Italia but not heard back yet.

I don't know who the UK courier is or how I go about finding out how to make the payment as nobody has contacted me.

Anyone had similar and how did you resolve it?

I'm afraid it is upto a buyer to make themselves aware of any duties and costs when buying items from abroad when purchases are above £135,as you pay VAT when buying, then Duty and Vat,plus a fee for delivery when they arrive in the UK.

What's the value of the item?

If it's below £135 then import VAT should have already been paid up front at eBay checkout.

If it's over £135 then Customs Duty will be payable and you'll be charged this end. The carrier should contact you soon with details on how to pay this.

As said, the courier, in this case Parcel force has let you know what you need to pay.

If you should decide not to pay you would loose any ebay buyer protection,if you needed it.
