Converting a "postage" to hand delivery

Good morning.

Uk based (if this makes a difference).

Buyer has bought an item, but as it so happens, they are in a location I can hand deliver over the weekend.

Is there a mechanism for hand delivery which offers the protection from "non receipt" claims? E.g. if I get them to send a message stating they recieved etc.

I see for "collection" there is normally a code that is exchanged for POD, but in my scenario there's nothing formal.

Any advice?

Thanks

If you didnt have collection as an option on your listing it might be best to cancel and relist with it on there.   If you do that discuss with buyer, a refund will be issued in the process.   Then they buy and pay again.

The buyer receives a code in an email and gives it to you when they collect or you deliver.   See "Proof of collection" on here:

You'll have no protection from an item not received case if you hand deliver the item, I'd just post it out.

Can you add on costs for personal delivery?  I mean hand delivering isn't free unless it's on your doorstep (costs time and fuel).

Must admit, I do find sometimes the lack of protection alarming.

Even if for example, the transaction had a "confirm receipt" on the buyer side.  Wouldn't take much I am sure for Ebay but would make a massive difference.

You cannot add extra for personal delivery and and as a private seller you cannot charge for your time etc.
