My item is listed for collection from buyer or posted to them. Ebay tell me "
If the buyer selects collection in person, as soon as they pay, get in touch with them to confirm collection details. When your buyer arrives, you'll need to use the eBay app to document that the item was collected. This helps protect you just in the case an 'item not received' case is ever opened.
Just open the eBay app, navigate to the order details for this transaction, and tap the 'scan to confirm collection' button."
I do not and cannot use the app, so what, if any, is the alternative action I can take if he/she decides to collect personally?

On a desktop you can manually enter the buyer's 6 digit code in View order details. See "Proof of collection" on here:

The buyer has to bring this 6 digit QR collection code, you don't have to scan it, you can manually enter the numbers in the order details to the left of ..... Confirm Collection.
Do not let your item go, without this code, it's the only proof you have that the item was collected.
So if the sale ends with a collection , and after payment send the buyer a polite message to bring this code, as the item will not be released without it.
