Hi has anyone else had this issue. I’m trying to buy a tile file and previously attempted to buy hacksaw blades. But I am being asked at checkout to verify my age. The way EBay wants me to do this is enter credit card details. Is there any other way I can verify my age as I don’t have a credit card. What’s wrong with a debit card or something else. It’s so frustrating 🤬

Hi has anyone else had this issue.
Many times, as you will see if you use the search box to look for this subject.
The answer is always the same. eBay will only accept a credit card for age verification.
There are other methods, but all would require eBay to examine proofs. Requiring use of a credit card makes this unnecessary, as a credit card is not available to persons below 18 years of age.
If you think eBay should change this policy you could try suggesting this. But eBay's policy on suggestions from members is that they don't accept suggestions from members.

A debit card can be owned by anyone of any age. To own a credit card, you have to be 18 years old or older, and this is the only method of verification for age, eBay accept.
You are not alone in being in this quandary, and you're left with asking someone who does have a credit card on their eBay account to buy this item for you, or to buy elsewhere, where verification details may be different.
