I am really fed up with purchasing items through eBay when the sellers claim to be based at a UK address and promises to deliver within 2-3 days. Only to find, once the order has been placed, that they are based in China?? EBay should much more closely monitor the sellers details to ensure that the buyer really knows where the item is really coming from. Come on eBay get a grip and sort this out!

Sellers could be based in China but have a warehouse in the UK where they fulfil their orders from.
You should always look at the listing to see where the item you are buying is located.
If it does come from China you can open a Not received dispute one day after the estimated delivery date has passed, and you can report the seller for misrepresentation of location if it arrives from China.

Are they claiming to be in the UK by having a UK address in the business details section of the listing, or are you searching by UK which is the item location not seller location?
The best way to avoid overseas sellers is to check country of registration on the feedback page.

eBay makes it clear in the user agreement that they can't and don't monitor the particulars of the millions of listings here.
They rely on other users to report irregularities. if you haven't done so already, if an item is misrepresented as being located in the UK, but is actually send from China, you can report this to eBay using the reporting link provided in every listing.
Report Category: Select 'listing practices'.
