Can someone help me out here, I was given to understand by ebay that the Buyers Protection Fee was paid by the buyer. Recently when an offer price is made say £20.00, the offer now reads "you will receive £16.62 , Buyers Protection Fee included" which means I am paying the fee, is that correct and if so why am I paying the buyers fee?
In your example the buyer offers £20 and ebay tells you what you will receive from that offer, i.e again in your example £16.62. They have actually improved how they communicate to sellers when offers are received and made.
Sellers do not pay the fee, it is legally charged to and collected from, the buyer.
You'll receive: £16.75Buyer's offer: £18.00 (incl. Buyer Protection fee) This is an actual offer and quite clearly I am being forced to pay the buyers protection fee. If the buyer offers £18.00 , that is what I should receive and the buyer should pay £18 plus £1.25 BPF, correct?
You do not have to accept any offer, it is up to you. Decline or make a counter offer, but if you accept you are accepting the figures shown by ebay when advising you of the offer.
In other words if you accept you agree to the lower figure, buyer still pays the BPF on top.
