Hi, I'm listing a VERY heavy item as Collection Only. Its the first time I've ever done this so the process is new to me and the prospective buyer/winner wants to send a courier. It sounds complicated/risky. Any ideas? Thanks.

The buyer would need to give you or the courier the 6 digit collection code before you hand over the item, this is proof that the buyer has collected it.
So, if a buyer uses a third party company to collect the item they're not covered by eBay's 30 day Money Back Guarantee and cannot claim that their item isn't as described via eBay.
They can still issue a not as described chargeback via their card provider, but could still do this if they collected it themselves, so that's a bit of a moot point.

First of all buyer using a courier, buyer loses buyer protection, BUT if it comes to a claim, you would have to inform ebay that buyer did not collect in person.
You would also for extra seller protection need to get the code from buyer BEFORE releasing purchased item, to prove it has been collected.

If the buyer sends a courier they void any MBG, Money Back protection eBay offer.
However, message your buyer that the courier MUST bring with them the 6 digit QR code which they'll find in their emails or eBay messages, and that you cannot release the item without this essential code.
That code is the only proof you'll have, that the item has been collected, you either scan the code or enter the numbers manually in the order details to the left of.... Confirm collection.
Again, do not let the item go without receiving that important code!
