Hi, im not sure what to do as cant find anything on ebay help pages of chat bot, hoping you guys can help as im fairly new to selling.
I sold an item for collection on 16th September and the buyer paid the same day. Those funds have also now been paid by ebay to my account. The buyer messaged me on the 17th wanting to collect the following weekend, which i said was ok. I have not heard anything since. I checked if that was still fine the day before the weekend, and asked what was happening on 6th October.
Ebay wont let me cancel the order. How am i meant to handle this? Do i have to arrange a refund then i'll be able to cancel or something else?
Thanks

It's too late to cancel but you should still be able to issue a refund from the item details on your orders list.

There could be all sorts of reasons for buyer not collecting, have you looked to see if his account appears to still be active?
Although you are out of time to cancel which automatically refunds, you can still refund using the refund link. You have 90 days for this,

ok thanks for the reply, looks like that option is there. I have messaged them one more time and if nothing heard in a few days i'll do that.

ok thanks for the reply John. The account still appears active, with a couple of feedbacks in the last month. I have messaged once more, and if not heard back in a few days i'll issue a refund.
For my own learning on this, what would happen after 90 days without issuing a refund?

Nothing will happen you just won't be able to refund at all through ebay and if you needed to do one you would have to find another method,

ok thanks so the sale/listing would just remain 'open' (or there is an Archive option available) on ebay as i cant close it or say its collected without the buyers collection code. If so i guess i get to keep both the money and the item

You can't close the sale without the code, but that doesn't really matter, especially as the sale hasn't been completed as the buyer does not have the item.
You should not think about keeping the money and the item when you can issue a refund.

ok thanks, thats not what i plan to do, just to understand the 90days refund cut off. I will give the buyer till the weekend then issue a refund.
