Buyer hasn't received item - 2nd class Royal mail tracked

Buyer not received item 2nd class Royal mail with tracking.

Has opened up a refund request with eBay I have been notified of case and they will get back to me in 48 hours .

I have coresponed with the buyer through out and have said to him I have tried tracking the item with Royal mail but always says  this (see  below ).

What can I do ?, as is not my fault I sent it on the 1st Sept and still not arrived there.

What will eBay do if I have given the Buyer and tracking number but item still not arrived . Royal mail says I am unable to do anything until 10 working days ...my hands are tied

I am an honest Ebayer with 100% Feedback .

Thanks to anyone who can help me out or shed some light .

When a reasonable time passes and still no delivery,  ask your buyer to open a case for item not received.

I'm presuming as a Private Seller you used Simple Delivery?  If so,  this is when SD works well,  as eBay step in , refund the buyer and you get to keep the payout for the item.

If you did not use SD but your own postage,  then you will have to refund the buyer through that case,  and wait the 10 days and claim for yourself from Royal Mail for compensation for yourself,  for a lost parcel.

Buyers always have to be refunded first, do not wait those 10 days to refund your buyer.

If the buyer has opened a case and your tracking doesn't show delivery, your only real option is to refund them.  The buyer can ask Ebay to step in if you don't refund promptly and you will get a defect on your selling account.

Was it the backpack?

It looks as if you charged the price for a small parcel - you will be able to see on your proof of posting - if the item was sent with insufficient postage, that can delay attempted delivery by up to 2 weeks so that could be the issue here.  To get it delivered, the buyer would have to pay a charge.

Hopefully, if delivery is now attempted, the buyer will refuse and the item will come back to you.  Otherwise, the buyer will have the item and a refund.
