I won an auction with a cash on collection,  I collected the item but Ebay asking me to pay, I contacted the seller to ask him to mark it as paid and he asked me for the code. I can't find a code? I've been through the checkout but short of paying again on card I'm a bit stuck, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You were supposed to receive an email from ebay containing the code when the listing finished.  If you got anything from them scroll right down to the bottom to check.

Cash on collection is no longer an acceptable means of paying. There is no way to mark as paid, as you have to go through the normal means of checkout.

As advised, you have to pay through Ebay.

You won't get the code until you have paid via Ebay checkout and you should not give the code to the seller until you have checked the item over and you are happy to take it away.

Cash is only acceptable for vehicles,  all other purchases be it through auction or a Buy it Now format,   have to be paid and completed through eBay checkout, by various card payments, Google / Apple Pay but not cash.

If you have paid with cash, there's no way to confirm this payment or that the item was collected.
