Buyer claiming item does not work.

I think I already know the answer to this but just to confirm.

 

I recently sold an item that was  checked to be fully working before posting. Buyer has messaged today claiming it doesn't work.

 

Do they have to provide proof of this?

 

If they return and it does work do I have any recourse?

Buyer claiming item does not work.

Something might have happened during transit.   They won't be able to prove it before they send it back so you will have to accept the return.   If it is working when you get it back in theory you can appeal to ebay but the refund is unlikely to be withdrawn.   At least you'll be able to resell it.
