Ebay sent return label for item, Seller hinting " all better be in same order sent and in same condition "- feel this is a blatant attempt to withhold refund, what can I do to protect myself?
Also do I simply return the item as seller sent ( item thrown in a carrier bag and a box ) or can I send them individually wrapped to protect them from damage on the journey back to the seller?
Help appreciated

Wrap them carefully and for a safe journey back to the seller, they do need to return back in the same condition as sent out.
They cannot withhold any refund, sent tracking, once that tracking shows delivery, the seller has 48 hours to refund you, if they don't you escalate, eBay step in and force the refund.
