Buyer Protection

We'd already seen a few articles about ebays plans to charge buyers a percentage fee under the guise of a controversial buyer protection fee. I've just bought a few items from ebay and when I placed the order I just happened to notice the words 'buyer protection fee' pop up in the final calculation, then it disappeared after my card was processed.
Obviously it has been built into the final cost of the item and I'm sure it's all 'clearly explained' somewhere in one of the embedded T&Cs, but much like the missing VAT calculation it's not listed in the final cost breakdown (as with standard invoicing and accounting) it just says 'inc buyer protection'. You can click on 'view all details' of a purchase and it jumps to the original listing.
Also (like the VAT deductions) it doesn't mention the 'buyer protection' fee anywhere on the listing. Whether or not it's been 'clearly explained' in the T&Cs it's certainly not good business practice.
