Business seller

I am looking at a motorcycle for sale with a seller that is listed as a business seller, he has 21 motorcycles for sale but all the listings say that this is a private listing and not a trade listing, as the bike in question is 250 miles away would I be protected by distance selling regulations and can a business seller list items as a private sale?

There is no ebay MBG for vehicles.

Never pay any money until you have inspected bike in person, not even deposit.

In theory if business seller you have protection, but enforcing it can be difficult.

To add,  it is illegal for business seller to pretend to be private seller.

A private sale on Ebay has a specific meaning - details from the link below:

Business sellers are allowed to list items as 'private listings'.

As advised, there is no Ebay protection for motor vehicles and the usual advice is to thoroughly check the vehicle before paying cash.

Distance Selling Regs wouldn't come into play here as buyers must collect their vehicle from the seller, and check it over before handing over payment as there's no comeback for them if it's not as described. The V5 should also be checked to make sure that it matches the name and address of the seller.
